Introduction

This article provides a detailed analysis of the core advantages of 100KVA oil-immersed transformers, including efficient heat dissipation, long lifespan design, high load adaptability, low maintenance costs, and environmental adaptability.  It also provides reference for power system selection by incorporating specific data and industry standards.

Efficient Heat Dissipation and Stable Performance

The 100KVA oil-immersed transformer uses mineral oil as the cooling and insulation medium, which has a heat capacity more than 10 times that of air. It can quickly absorb and dissipate heat, ensuring that the winding temperature remains stable at 65℃-75℃ (under rated load). The oil circulation design, combined with cooling fins or corrugated oil tanks, can control the temperature rise within 55K, significantly superior to the heat dissipation efficiency of dry-type transformers. For example, during continuous full-load operation, the lifespan loss rate of oil-immersed transformers is only 1/3 of that of dry-type transformers.

Long Lifespan and Low Maintenance Costs

  • Slow insulation aging: The oil-paper insulation system of oil-immersed transformers has a very low oxidation rate in a sealed environment, and the design life is usually more than 30 years, while the average lifespan of dry-type transformers is 20 years.

  • Long maintenance-free period: The fully sealed structure reduces oil contamination. Modern products such as the S11-M series have maintenance intervals of up to 10 years, requiring only regular oil sample testing (once every 3 years).

  • Low failure rate: The oil medium can effectively suppress partial discharge. Statistics show that its annual failure rate is <0.5%, making it particularly suitable for unattended substations.

High Load and Environmental Adaptability

  • Overload capacity: The 100KVA oil-immersed transformer can operate at 110% of the rated load for 2 hours, and the short-term overload capacity reaches 150% (30 minutes), suitable for scenarios with large fluctuations such as rural power grids.

  • Harsh environment resistance: The protection level reaches IP55 (dustproof and waterproof), and it can operate stably in an environment of -25℃~40℃ (measured data can be found in "Transformer Technology" 2021, Issue 4), and its short-circuit current resistance exceeds 25kA (national standard requirement).

Economic Efficiency and Expandable Features

  • Low initial cost: For the same capacity, oil-immersed transformers are 20%-30% cheaper than dry-type transformers.

  • Noise control:  Utilizing low magnetic flux density silicon steel sheets, the noise level is ≤45dB (measured at a distance of 1 meter), meeting urban power supply requirements.

  • Intelligent expansion: The new product integrates modules such as oil temperature monitoring and gas protection, supporting remote monitoring.
